This Mediterranean Layer Hummus Dip is a fresh and healthy appetizer that is the perfect dish to pass at any party!
Last night our church [Our Lady Queen of Martyrs] hosted an Advent by Candlelight event meant to help women focus on Christ during the busy holiday season. Let’s just say I probably should have Googled what Advent by Candlelight was all about before walking into the party. Yes, it felt like a party with 200 women of all ages, talking family, faith, and good food. Each table of women were passing dishes of deliciousness, and I opted to bring this simple Mediterranean layer hummus dip.
Whenever I’m asked to bring an appetizer or dish to pass to a potluck, I typically bring this layered Mediterranean layer hummus dip. My friend Colleen shared her recipe, and I doctored it up a step or two more with a few additional toppings. Not only do the colors in the dish remind me of Christmas, it’s truly one of the easiest recipes you can bring to a holiday party. And what person doesn’t need a little more easy in their life this time of year?!
Just one more quick note about Advent by Candlelight: the message of the evening was exactly what I needed after my emotional October. Father focused his discussion on the Blessed Mother, Mary, and the humility, grace, and love she brings to our lives. The holidays are a little sad for me this year, but I’m reminded that there’s plenty to be thankful for, and plenty GOOD to focus on [Mediterranean layer hummus dip anyone?!].
- 8 ounces hummus [I use Sabra]
- ¾ cup tabouli [I purchased at the grocery store]
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
- ½ cup diced cucumber
- ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
- In an 8 by 8 square dish, spread hummus evenly on the bottom.
- Layer the remaining ingredients over the top.
- Serve with fresh vegetables, pita chips, or crackers.

Happy dipping my friends! And happy holidays to you and yours!

I love this idea!! It combines two of our favorite Mediterranean dishes, looks like Christmas, and is quick and easy. Just up my alley! Thank you – I am so glad I discovered your blog. It is giving me a lot of inspiration and making my family happy too! Your shredded chicken recipe and your mom’s grilled chicken recipe are now two of our favorite ways to do chicken and can be served so many ways and made into delicious salads or quesadillas as leftovers. Thank you! Have a wonderful Advent!
