Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes (Easy Winter Dessert for Kids)

December 22, 2025 By Katie

Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes (Easy Winter Dessert for Kids)

These Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes are an easy, no-bake winter dessert that kids absolutely love. Made with simple ingredients like vanilla ice cream, marshmallows, and fun toppings, this snowman dessert idea is perfect for snow days, holiday parties, or a cozy family night at home.

If you’re looking for a festive dessert that feels special but doesn’t require baking (or perfection), this one checks all the boxes.

Note: I created Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes back in 2023. Thanks for reading my new version!

Why Moms Love This Winter Dessert

  • No baking required

  • Kids can help assemble and decorate

  • Uses freezer and pantry staples

  • Fun without being stressful

This is the kind of dessert that’s more about connection than perfection — which is always my favorite kind.

Ingredients for Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes

You don’t need exact measurements — think of this as a build-your-own activity.

  • Vanilla ice cream

  • Mini marshmallows (for the snowman head)

  • Chocolate chips or candy eyes

  • Pretzel sticks or Twizzlers (for arms)

  • Chocolate syrup (optional)

  • Sprinkles, mini chocolate candies, or chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes

  1. Scoop three balls of vanilla ice cream into a bowl, stacking them to resemble a snowman.

  2. Place a mini marshmallow on top for the head.

  3. Use chocolate chips or candy eyes to create the face and buttons.

  4. Insert pretzel sticks or Twizzlers on each side for arms.

  5. Let kids decorate with sprinkles or drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.

Serve immediately and enjoy — melting snowmen are part of the fun.

Tips for Making Snowman Ice Cream Sundaes with Kids

  • Let kids decorate their own snowman — no two will look the same

  • Use different sized scoops to help the “snowman” shape

  • Keep toppings small and manageable for little hands

  • Don’t overthink it — messy means memories are being made

A Sweet Winter Memory

The first time we made snowman ice cream sundaes, the ice cream barely held together long enough to look like a snowman. By the time we stacked the scoops, it was already melting, the arms were crooked, and the bowl was more puddle than winter scene.

And the sprinkles… oh, the sprinkles. They ended up everywhere — on the counter, the floor, and places sprinkles definitely don’t belong. There was laughter, sticky fingers, and that moment when you stop worrying about the mess and just enjoy it.

The snowmen didn’t last long, but the memory did — a reminder that the sweetest moments are usually the messy ones.
