Holiday Traditions Memory Book

November 26, 2014 By Katie

While the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words,” I believe a hand-written memory is worth a thousand more! I love going through old journals/diaries from Junior High (yes, I saved mine). I also cherish handwritten recipes my Mom has shared with me. When Ted and I first were married, I knew I wanted to journal holiday traditions beyond photos saved on our phones. My hope is that 50 years from now we’ll still be journaling memories from the holiday’s OR I’ll be passing on the holiday traditions memory book to one of our children.

With the help of Shutterfly, I created a memory book from a traditional spiral notebook. I added the photo [how cute is Joey?!] and then will add text every year at Thanksgiving. So far I’ve jotted down both a food and family memory— and of course a Detroit Lion’s victory [or defeat]. I’m sure the book will evolve, especially if I want to add a photo or two. But that’s what scissors and tape are for!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours this year! I’d love to hear how you remember/record family traditions!
