April 29, 2025 By Katie

A Splash of Fun and the Perfect Spring Break Getaway at the Bavarian Blast Indoor Waterpark! An honest review from a Mom of 4 expert waterpark adventurers.

Bavarian Blast Indoor Waterpark Review

I recently took my four kids to the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, Michigan for our spring break — and it turned out to be the perfect trip for a single mom of four who can sometimes get a little stressed traveling solo with the kiddos! As of March 2025, this facility boasts over 170,000 square feet of indoor fun, making it Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark and family entertainment center.

The newly expanded Bavarian Blast Waterpark made our stay unforgettable, offering something for everyone without the need for a long road trip or flights. What made the trip extra special is that two other families from school ended up joining us- AND we ran into some other familiar faces while swimming and splashes. Frankenmuth really is a small world!

Highlights:

Massive Water Attractions:
The waterpark, now Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark and family fun center, offers endless fun with 16 new slides, a dual racing waterslide (a huge hit with my older kids), a wave pool, a “not-so-lazy” river, and a splash area perfect for toddlers. Even my tweens found plenty to do, while my youngest loved the zero-depth pools and small slides.

Great Food Options Without Leaving the Lodge:
One thing I loved as a busy mom was that we didn’t have to leave the hotel for good food. The Bavarian Inn Lodge has several on-site dining options, from the family-friendly Ratskeller Café serving pizza, burgers, and salads, to the Lorelei Lounge for casual drinks and appetizers. Plus, there’s the traditional Bavarian Inn Restaurant nearby if you want the full Frankenmuth chicken dinner experience. Having so many convenient choices made mealtime easy and stress-free!

Perfect Staycation Destination:
If you live in Metro Detroit like us, Frankenmuth is only about 90 minutes away — close enough to feel manageable, but far enough to feel like a real vacation. Frankenmuth is charming year-round, with its Bavarian architecture, unique shops, and family-friendly vibe. You really do feel like you’ve traveled to a little European village without leaving Michigan.

Affordable Fun with Tons to Do: Besides the waterpark, the Bavarian Inn Lodge also has a Family Fun Center with over 180 games, indoor mini-golf, laser tag, a climbing wall, and a ropes course. There’s enough entertainment packed into one place that we never once heard the dreaded “I’m bored!” during the trip.

The Lodge does get busy, especially during school breaks, but I found that booking a stay during the week instead of the weekend helped a lot. Also, bringing some snacks for the room was helpful for quick breakfasts before heading straight to the waterpark.

Final Thoughts:
This trip was exactly what my family needed. It was affordable, close to home, filled with fun activities, and stress-free. The Bavarian Inn Splash Waterpark offers a delightful mix of thrills and relaxation suitable for all ages. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline-pumping slides or a serene spot to unwind, this destination delivers. It’s a fantastic getaway for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy a comprehensive indoor waterpark experience.

As a single mom, it’s rare to find a destination that entertains kids of all ages and still gives me moments of relaxation — but the Bavarian Inn Splash Waterpark delivered. We’re already planning to go back next year!
