We are officially midway through January 2022 and while I’m all for eating healthier and lighter this time of year, I don’t make huge resolutions around my diet. Resolutions tend to come in the form of relationships, mindset, and therapy for me, whereas my diet stays consistent year-round. Eating brings me joy and happiness, which is exactly what comes about when I took the first few sips of this banana date chocolate smoothie.

Smoothie Basics

These days the kids are starting their days with a bowl of cereal or chocolate Orgain protein smoothie from Costco, so I find myself making a smaller serving of smoothie for a post workout treat or afternoon snack for myself. Smoothies used to be all the rage in the Serbinski house. So much so that I have a plethora of posts for you novice to experienced smoothie makers.

The Secret Ingredient to this Banana Date Chocolate Smoothie

Well, it’s really no secret, but the dates are the secret ingredient to this smoothie. Dates and chocolate chips. Lily wouldn’t let me forget those. Dates add extra sweetness and fiber to this recipe, something I’m all about munching on these days. Just don’t forget to pit the dates before you add to your blender. You don’t want to ruin the blade!
