If These Walls Could Talk

September 2, 2018 By Katie

It’s been a while since I’ve put fingers to keys and felt the urge to write an update or share a recipe with you all. If you’ve been following along on my family’s journey this summer, you know there are 3 BIG reasons as to why I’ve been somewhat MIA:

  1. We moved [about 1 mile from our current house]
  2. The boys are starting a new school this Wednesday
  3. Baby Serbinski #4 will be joining our family this month! Due date = September 17th. But with Serbinski babies and my experience, that could very well mean a week or 10 days later.

Look out Beverly Hills. The Big 3 [Serbinski’s] are coming for ya!
So, consider this update a coffee chat [thanks Brittany and Kristina for inspiring me to share a post in this conversational format], a day in the life, or a pregnancy update from inside the walls of our new house!

THE MOVE

Old house move.
New house fridge. Guess which one makes me the happiest?!

We’ve been in our new house 10 days now, and while I’m ecstatic about the extra space, new paint, shiny floors, and welcoming neighbors, there’s still quite a bit of nesting this Momma wants to do before baby arrives. We’ve actually been doing updates on the house since the end of June, but with summer schedules and projects that have taken longer than expected, things aren’t PERFECT like this 38-week pregnant lady dreamt about. BUT, on the bright side, the kids are beyond happy, I’m focusing on organizing room by room vs. the entire space, and hey, who is going to remember this time next year, let alone 5 years from now?! It took us a good 2-3 years to make our first house a home, so remind me to take a chill pill and just enjoy the moment.

THE SCHOOL

Think little sister will let them go off to school without her?! Stay tuned. Not sure I’ll have a pretty answer to share.

Joey and Anthony will be attending 3 and 4-year-old preschool at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, a Catholic school located just about 2 miles from our house. Both boys will be going to school Monday-Friday, 8:15am-11: 45 am. Which gives Lily and I some girl time, also soon to be Lily, baby, and Mom time. My hope is that Lily will be ready to change a diaper and feed a bottle in 2 months flat. I’ll report back on that project…

THE BABY

38 weeks. Gulp. I’m now in the stage where I’m not upset about interrupted sleep [I know what’s coming], I’m in extreme nesting mode, and I’m SO ready to meet this baby boy. The question is, will he be ready to join this rowdy crew?! There’s no turning back now buddy! Other than that, I’ve been down for the count with bronchitis and haven’t had much energy for anything other than delegating the daytime routine to Ted [thank goodness for the long holiday weekend and extra rest time for Mom]. Baby’s nursery is 80% complete, and we are about 95% sure of his name. My hospital bag might be a brown grocery bag, but hey, at least I know where the newborn diapers are despite the moving chaos!

No bump picture to share at 38 weeks. Just a picture that pretty much sums up my pregnancy cravings. Milk and donuts.

How was that for my very first coffee chat on the blog?! More like a printed version of all the happenings right now in our lives, I’d probably prefer sharing this with a glass of wine vs. coffee. But, BUT, 2-3 more weeks for that.

Now it’s your turn to share back:

Have you ever moved at the same time as another big life event [i.e. wedding, baby, job change, etc.]?

How do you help your children transition into the new school year? Any first day of school family traditions?

Anyone else hoping for a delayed due date because you need more time to nest?!
