Foodie Babies

Jul 9, 2014 2 Comments

Four years ago, I found myself across the country in Sacramento, California, completing a 3-month internship at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). A lot happened during my time in Sacramento: I met my husband, Ted, I finished the requirements for my Masters degree, and I met one of the kindest, most loving friends (and mom), Nuny! Nuny was also at the CDPH for an internship and our desks just happened to be right next to one another’s!

Fast forward until now: we are both new moms, our son’s birthday’s are actually one day apart. Despite the distance (Nuny lives in California), our friendship has continued to grow with the bond of motherhood- and all that jazz that comes with it.

Here we are with our sweet baby boys!

When we started feeding our boys solid foods, we shared recipes with one another daily. After a few text conversations (the 3 hour time change is killer), we decided we should be sharing our recipes with other parents! That’s how we started Foodie Babies!

The inspiration for Foodie Babies: THE foodie babies…

Foodie Babies is a company Nuny and I brainstormed together to inspire moms to pass the foodie-gene from one generation to the next. With a focus on mostly homemade baby food, we share nutritious recipes, baby food product reviews, and fun baby stories with our followers. All recipes are triple tested and approved by our foodie babies, Micaiah and Joey.

Bravo and congratulations, Katie! My most passionate work is on the behalf of moms before, during, and after pregnancy–along with supporting them as they feed their babies (no matter what their age!). You might enjoy reviewing the recipes and information shared in Smart Bites for Baby published just two years ago. I consulted on the project and shared my food, nutrition and developmental insight.

Hi Bonnie!! Thank you so much for your note. I will definitely purchase Smart Bites for Baby. I have a few others (Fearless Feeding and Baby Bites) that I’ve been using for reference… I’m always wanting to learn more! I’m finding mom’s (and dad’s) are SO passionate about feeding their kids- almost as passionate as we are about food and nutrition 🙂
