Christmas Cookie Decorating Station

December 19, 2020 By Katie

A Christmas Cookie Decorating Station is a simple, fun holiday-inspired activity for kids of all ages. Assemble the station based on your family’s preferences for cookies, frosting, and toppings!

If you’ve been around Mom to Mom Nutrition for awhile, you know I rely on a lot of store-bought shortcuts, pizza is my family’s favorite food, and I’m not much of a baker. Which doesn’t bode so well for me this time of year as every other food blogger seems to be cranking out baked goods like it’s their job. Because it is! But that’s ok. I know if you are a fan of my recipes you don’t come here for the baked goods. You come here for the reality, the mess, and yep, the store-bought shortcuts too!

Tis’ the season for stepping out of our comfort zones and making new traditions. The idea for the cookie decorating station was two-fold: what activity doesn’t excite young children more than decorating a warm cookie with frosting and sprinkles. Plus, my friends at General Mills had sent me two exclusive holiday cereals to enjoy with the kids [Sugar Cookie Crunch and Elf Corn Puffs]. What a better way to eat the cereal than on top of a cookie!

You guys know I’m all about balance, and apparently a sugar-filled afternoon with no naps. Because that, my friends, was the outcome of these two making my kitchen Santa’s bakery.

No real recipe here to share, just an idea for store-bought cookie dough, festive toppings, and an additional way to use cereal- cookie decorating! I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And if you happen to create a Christmas cookie decorating station this upcoming week, be sure to tag me on Instagram or Facebook. I’d love to feature you and your little elves!
