With these six kid-friendly portable dinner ideas, you can make sure your young athletes have a satisfying meal before their sports games.

Wraps or Burritos: Fill tortillas with a variety of ingredients like grilled chicken, turkey, beef, or tofu, along with veggies, cheese, and sauce. Roll them up tightly and wrap them in foil or parchment paper for easy handling.

Rice or Grain Bowls: Prepare a base of cooked rice or grains like quinoa or couscous. Top it with protein options such as grilled shrimp, chicken, or chickpeas, along with vegetables and a flavorful sauce. Pack it in a sealed container for a hearty and customizable dinner.

Pasta Salad: Use cooked pasta, such as rotini or penne, as the base, and toss it with protein options like diced ham, grilled chicken, or shrimp. Add vegetables like cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and bell peppers, and dress it with a light vinaigrette or creamy dressing.

Stuffed Pitas or Sandwiches: Fill whole wheat pita pockets with protein options like falafel, grilled chicken strips, or sliced deli meats. Add lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a dollop of dressing or hummus for extra flavor.

Mini Sliders: Prepare mini sliders by using small hamburger buns or rolls. Fill them with cooked and seasoned ground beef or turkey patties. Top with a slice of cheese and add ketchup or mustard if desired. These handheld sliders are delicious, protein-packed, and easy to eat on the sidelines.

Chicken Quesadillas: Make chicken quesadillas by layering shredded cooked chicken and cheese on a tortilla. Fold it in half and cook it on a griddle or stovetop until the cheese melts and the tortilla is crispy. Cut into wedges and pack in a container. Quesadillas are flavorful, satisfying, and can be enjoyed cold or slightly warmed up.
