Playdate Snack Mix [for Moms and Kids!]

If there’s one thing about motherhood I never in a million years thought I needed as much as I do, it’s other moms. From Scary Mommy article sharing to pick-me-up texts, I don’t know what I’d do without my mom pals. That’s not to say I don’t rely on or cherish the relationships I have with my friends who are not yet moms, there’s just something about being able to relate to the person at the park who hasn’t showered in two days, has a toddler screaming NO at the top of their lungs, and another toddler chewing on woodchips. Yep, I’m that Mom.

The scene of our summer playdates: all the kids need is our driveway and hose! Who wants to join??!

I’m pretty sure I’m in the season of play dates with my mom friends. While I have the occasional night out with one or two, I get most of my girl time either at the park or at someone’s house. Kids ALWAYS included. Snacks too. That’s how I came up with the name for this play date snack mix. It’s essentially a trail mix but I think the play date snack mix title is something all moms can relate to. And enjoy a handful themselves.

Made with Kroger’s Simple Truth snacking line, I selected a few of our favorite crunchy items: freeze-dried strawberries, raw pumpkin seeds, sesame sticks, and banana chips— all free from 101+ artificial preservatives and ingredients. I tend to make my play date snack mixes nut-free, unless otherwise given the A-OK from another mom that their kids can have nuts. You could also go rogue and add things like dried raisins or chocolate chips, but since I already had dried fruit in this particular mix, I decided the kids didn’t need any more sugar.

Not a real recipe guys, but I eye-balled how much goes in each Ziploc bag or bowl. Of course, portions can be adjusted based on what and how much you want your little ones to have.

What I love about the Simple Truth snacking line is that the tagline is as follows: the perfect snack partner for life on the go. There’s no stopping kids at a play date, am I right?!
