We’re back to packing lunches this month for the 2018 school year and if there’s one thing I know BOTH boys will be happy with whether it’s lunch at home OR school, it’s this simple hummus lunchbox. Aka a snack lunch filled with lots of dipping, crunch, and color.

Hummus is an awesome vegetarian alternative source of protein. In fact, it’s been one of the first foods I’ve fed each of my children when they were babies. Their love for hummus has carried over into their preschool-age days, and I hope it continues throughout their entire school career so I can continue making this simple hummus lunchbox.

Want more school lunch or bento box lunch ideas for the 2018 school year?!

As the official registered dietitian for Produce for Kids, I’m always looking to their healthy and colorful lunchbox ideas for inspiration for my guys, especially when it comes to new and exciting ways to make a hummus box. In an effort to encourage families and schools across America to eat healthier this year, PFK is launching part two of the Power Your Lunchbox Promise. By making the promise yourself [it’s FREE—and takes 2 seconds here] you’ll have access to 60+ delicious lunchbox ideas, you’ll be entered to win an Instant Pot, AND, most importantly, by making the promise, you’ll be helping families in need struggling with hunger.

So whether you want to jazz-up your school lunch routine or stick to fast and nutritious like the hummus lunchbox, be sure to take the Power Your Lunchbox Promise. Many children do not know when their next meal will come from, and your promise [and mine] will help a family in need!

No real recipe for this post. Just pair your family’s favorite hummus [ours is plain] with your favorite dipping veggies + crackers. I always add milk or cheese for extra calcium and protein. You can also add fruit but I’m not sure I’d dip that in hummus!
