5 Fall Food Finds

October 16, 2017 By Katie

Five Fall Food Finds. Say that five times fast. And no, I didn’t plan on the title of this blog post to have every word starting with the letter F, but I’m giggling to myself about it. Fall is my favorite time of year and for good reason: football and food. Because this is a blog about food and nutrition and not about my favorite football teams [the Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Lions], I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite fall food finds! Forgive me if these aren’t new to you, but I had the chance to grocery shop last week when I had a sitter* instead of using Kroger’s ClickList,  so I took my time perusing the aisles and noticed some products new-to-me this fall!

*Yes, when I have a babysitter I do things like grocery shopping, folding laundry, produce prep, and other household tasks. My plan is to always use that time to work or get a haircut, eyebrow wax, etc. but the reality is toddlers love unfolding laundry as you are folding it, so I decide to use my time and babysitters wisely!

Simple Truth Cheddar Kangaroos

5 Fall Food Finds

Move over Goldfish and Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies. There’s a new cheddar animal cracker in town! I smiled when I saw these and thought they were perfect for a homemade trail mix, preschool lunchbox grain option, or after-school snack.

Shredded Broccoli Leaves

5 Fall Food Finds

Similar in taste to kale, I’ve used broccoli leaves in simple skillet dinners, stir-fry’s, and soups. I love that this brand is already chopped and washed and that I can use when I please! I recently used broccoli leaves in this skillet dinner. Family verdict? Make it again Mom!

Pumpkin Spice English Muffins

5 Fall Food Finds

Need I say more?! Fall is that time of year when everything pumpkin makes an appearance in the grocery store. I was hesitant to buy these because I’m not a huge fan of strong pumpkin flavor, but these English muffins were delicious topped with some peanut butter and sliced banana.

Green Olive Focaccia Croutons

5 Fall Food Finds

I’m an olive aficionado. My crew, on the other hand, would rather I never allow a single olive in our house. Forget them, right?! Once in a while, I go against my grain and pick up something for me at the store, and these green olive croutons fit the bill. I’m a big fan of making a batch of soup every week during the fall— mainly as leftovers for my lunch and a couple dinners. Instead of eating my soup with a side of crusty bread, I like to top mine with croutons. Give it a try!

These croutons would be delicious on top of roasted garlic chicken noodle soup or Italian chicken soup.

Pringles-Style Veggie Chips

5 Fall Food Finds

I have no other way to describe this new version of veggie chips other than they look like Pringles but taste just like veggie chips! Again, another great lunchbox or after-school option.

Calling all fall food lovers:

Has anything caught your eye at the grocery store this fall? Have you tried anything I’ve listed above?!

I hope you are enjoying food, football, AND family as much as I am this time of year!
