What the Kids Eat When Dad Cooks

April 24, 2016 By Katie

Last weekend I was in northern Michigan celebrating a bachelorette party for one of my nearest and dearest friends, Amy. If you know anything about bachelorette parties you know that a. no kids are allowed and b. husbands are on the do-not-invite list too. So off I went with some of my girlfriends— drinking wine and enjoying some Mom time with the gals. Ok, so I didn’t drink wine, but I did enjoy the alone time.

When I’m away from Ted and the boys I usually leave them [or Ted] a list a things he can make to eat. I also keep in mind that I don’t always stick to my grocery or meal planning list, so if he strays from it I don’t stress out. I just want him to know he’s got backup! Now this trip I was gone Friday evening for dinner, all day Saturday [BLD] and then through lunch on Sunday. Because I missed my guys so much and I wanted to share a little recap of their eating habits while I was away, I asked Ted to snap some photos of what meals they enjoyed together. No judging folks. I’m just impressed he was able to get them fed and take the photos for me! What a guy!

THE list. Not too complicated or bossy, right?!

I left them a little sweet treat... peanut butter cookies! What a Mom!

FRIDAY:

The guys enjoyed Trader Joe's Orange Chicken, cauliflower rice [I sautéed beforehand so Ted just had to reheat], and crinkle cut carrots I had steamed ahead of time too.

According to Dad, NeNe liked the chicken!

SATURDAY:

While I had left a note that there were waffles and clementines to be eaten, the guys skipped my recommendation and went for this gem: a peanut butter smoothie! Do you blame them?!

SUNDAY:

Not sure where breakfast is on Sunday but the guys had a taste of McDonald's for lunch!

So there you have it. What the bachelors are munching on when their Mom is out of town! Tell me Moms… what do you do to make sure your family EATS when you are out of town? Do you prep freezer meals? Leave a limited list like I do? Or just let the men fend for themselves?!
