It’s officially been almost one year since I last wrote a five on friday blog post. Ooops! I always have the best intentions to keep up with these weekly series… but alas, months of life happen!
Here was 5 on Friday July 2023 edition. I promise it’s a fun read!
Alright. So back in action with 5 happenings this past week. Lord have mercy. That’s all I’m going to say. Enjoy the read!
5 on Friday:
1. Michael’s Injury. An innocent playground injury at school had this guy getting his, “wound,” glued by our trusty pediatrician. Oddly enough, Mom and Dad kept our cool over the whole situation. And guess what? So did Big Mac. He was proud at the fact that he did NOT cry. I made sure to tell him that if he did cry, it would be a normal. SO normal.
He had so much courage going to the pediatrician not knowing what they were going to do. And guess what? I’m raising young men who can cry if they want to! Because MAN that cut looked deep. And since I’m pretty much crying at all things blooming this spring, you better believe I encourage the tears…
2. Tony’s sense of humor. This guy… my mini in a lot of ways. And for that I love the little jokes and notes we leave one another. While he tests my patience most days, he also has me laughing with his sense of humor. And smile. Here’s an example of a note I left in his lunchbox this week. When he came home, he said, “Mom, I could definitely see you saying all those things. I like your notes.” I like writing them too bud. xo. Mom.
3. Lily’s art. Lily rarely verbalizes that she loves me. Words are just that, words. But her action of writing and drawing and coloring her feelings amazes me. Oh, and I’ll happily take the “I Love You,” in this way.
4. Joey’s back. This guy will stop all the basketball dribbling, poking at his brothers and sister, and the iPad at volume 93838484 if I suggest a back scratch. LOL. I mean, can you blame him?! I’ll scratch that dude’s back until he tells me no. Also, don’t quote me on that…
5. Mom’s grilling. Chicken. You might remember I lost my job with the Michigan Beef Industry Commission last fall. And I’ve been in a wonky funky mood this week because, well, it’s grilling season! And I loved all of the work we did last summer in the industry. Ok. Stopping the rabbit hole thinking here… Let’s just say Momma is really good at grilling chicken too!
