Whole Grain Cinnamon Crunch Bites

Sep 11, 2017 4 Comments

Disclosure: Thank you to General Mills Big G Cereals for sponsoring this post as part of Whole Grains Month and the #ButFirstWholeGrain Challenge. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Whole Grain Cinnamon Crunch Bites make the perfect whole grain snack when you’re craving something flavorful AND fiber-filled. A perfect grab-and-go snack or lunchbox treat!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about toddlers since now having three of them under one roof it’s that they are little creatures of habit. And Mom and Dad likely cannot break their habit because you can’t get anything past a toddler.

This parenting “truth” is overwhelmingly evident when it comes to snacks and my toddlers. It became even crazier this summer when we would go to the park, zoo, or pool, and the trio would immediately ask for a snack. You know what? Their little habits rubbed off on Mom because I too found myself eating, even when I wasn’t that hungry.

In an effort to take back our mindless snacking habits and get into a better routine this fall, I’m not saying “no way!” to snacks. Rather, I’m finding ways to make them healthier [and tastier] with a few key nutrients like whole grains. And that’s exactly what you’ll find in these whole-grain cinnamon crunch bites.

I’ve partnered with General Mills Cereal to create these tasty bites and to share even more whole grain goodness by celebrating their #ButFirstWholeGrain campaign. It turns out Whole Grain is the first ingredient in every box of Big G Cereals.

And, September is National Whole Grains Month, so my plan is to put myself first for once [with my little ducklings following close behind] by adding more whole grains to my diet, and most importantly, to our line-up of family-friendly, go-to snacks.  Whole grains have been linked to several health benefits, including heart health, weight maintenance, and reduced risk of certain cancers. OH and guess what? Whole grains are a source of energy. Something this Mom needs a lot more of.

Now one reason I chose Cinnamon Toast Crunch to make these cinnamon crunch bites is because ALL of General Mills Big G cereals have at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving [and we need at least 48 grams a day1].

And let’s be honest about two things: 1. Who doesn’t love Cinnamon Toast Crunch and 2. You know for sure my toddlers are clamoring to get their fingers on one or two of these bites. And yes, I shared because I couldn’t hide for too long.

So put yourself first for once Mom [or Dad, or Nana and Grandpa], with #ButFirstWholeGrain by adding more whole grains to your diet.

You know I love the sound of this! Drool! And you are so right about the snacking habits of toddlers, the minute mine sees someone else eating a snack, she’s asking for one too. Oy.
