For as long as I can remember, the Fourth of July has always been a holiday involving family, food, and Lake Michigan. Dad supervises the grill, Mom and I make our favorite sides like lemon orzo and watermelon pizza, the kids play on the beach, and we all eat and soak-up too much sun. This year for the 4th of July I’ve partnered with ALDI to help make the most of your at-home Fourth of July celebration, no matter what that looks like for families. ALDI offers fresh, affordable ingredients to prepare everything for your Fourth of July festivities.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to share a few ALDI-inspired Fourth of July food-favorites on channel 7. You guys know my kids can eat a watermelon in one sitting, so I had to showcase one of our holiday treats, watermelon pizza. While watermelon is certainly delicious on its own, topped with creamy Greek yogurt and additional fruit, you can’t go wrong with dressing it up. Did you know ALDI offers a large selection of organic produce and their prices are among the most competitive in the grocery industry? One of my favorite takeaways from the segment is that if you’re not able to celebrate the holiday as usual with your family and friends, consider hosting a virtual BBQ with your loved ones. Participants can even make the same recipes, so you feel like you’re all together in these uncertain times.
Click here for the original recipe to the watermelon pizza. I adapted the recipe and used a mixture of vanilla Greek yogurt + whipped topping for the watermelon pizza “sauce.”
Here’s a look at the segment- as well as my Mom and Dad’s VERY clean kitchen. It’s amazing the work I can do without my 4 sous chefs around.
While just about every aspect of our lives might look a little different now, including grocery shopping, one thing will never change at ALDI: the company’s commitment to offering customers the lowest prices, every day. In response to increased customer demand, ALDI recently accelerated the expansion of its Curbside Grocery Pickup service. The service, which will be available in nearly 600 stores by the end of July, is another way ALDI is making the shopping experience more convenient and accessible for everyone. The ALDI shopping experience is designed to save people time and money. And who doesn’t want more time in their life and money in their pocket? Thankfully for us, ALDI operates more than 35 stores in the Detroit area, providing us convenient access to fresh, high-quality groceries at unbeatable prices.
From at-home grilling recipes to cooking tips and tricks, ALDI is here to make your at-home celebration one to remember, without breaking the bank. While your Fourth of July may look different this year, it can still be special — and tasty. ALDI has all the summer spread essentials you love for less, from high quality foods to delicious beverages.
So, tell me: What’s on your Fourth of July menu this year? Will you be at home? On the lake? Or on a Zoom call with family and friends?
