If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, then you know we are a house filled with Sabra hummus fans. Hummus was a first food for all of my babies [same will happen with Chapter 4], and it’s a go-to option when Mom just doesn’t feel like cooking. In fact, I’m pretty sure the first sentence Lily said was, “hummus and crackers.” Sister knows what she likes! So, when it came to thinking of a fast, protein-packed school lunch ideas, Sabra hummus was the first food that came to mind.

While a protein-packed lunch might seem a little excessive for the littlest ones, hear me out. My kids are in this phase where they don’t wake up hungry. They aren’t ready for breakfast when it’s time to rush out the door for school. A few sips of smoothie, a few bites of cereal, maybe a bite of a bar. So, when lunchtime hits I KNOW they need something satisfying, filling AND healthy. That’s where Sabra Singles Classic Hummus comes in. Packed with protein and healthy fats, it’s filling up those bellies in minutes. Along with other protein-rich foods, I’m not only ensuring they have options in their lunchbox [or in our case, lunch at home this school year], I am also ensuring that they can finish their day with enough energy to get to dinner.

Looking for more lunchbox inspiration? Here’s a list of 50+ school lunch ideas + a printable list!

Because I’m not packing lunches this year, hummus will be a quick and easy option the kids get RIGHT when they walk in the front door! Can you tell Joe Joe was a fan of this protein-packed lunch option?!

The Sabra Singles are not only the perfect size for any lunchbox, they are a great way for this Mom to portion control when she’s home, hungry, and waiting to pick up the little guys from preschool.

Unsure about how much protein your child needs? Here’s a post I wrote on what and how much protein babies and children need.

Wondering what goes well with Sabra Singles Classic Hummus? Here’s what my kids love dipping with:

  • Crackers or pretzel sticks
  • Pepper slices
  • Cucumber Slices
  • Celery Sticks
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Cheese sticks
  • Just a plain old spoon [yes, looking at you Lily]
  • Apple slices

No recipe here folks. The image says it all! Just pair Sabra Singles with something crunchy, sweet, and satisfying. And don’t forget some nuts or dairy to complete the protein-packed lunchbox!

Hold me. And Lily. The boys will be attending 3 and 4-year-old preschool this year! Monday-Friday mornings!

Disclaimer:  I am proud to partner with the Sabra to bring you healthy recipes made with wholesome ingredients.  Because of these great partnerships, I am able to share delicious and nutritious family-friendly recipes. As always all opinion and ideas are 100% my own.
