Losing the Baby Weight

October 9, 2016 By Katie

Losing the baby weight. Ugh. Just typing the title of this post I’m cringing a little inside. Truth be told, I questioned whether or not I should even create a post on this topic. Just as all of our babies are different, so are our pre and post baby bodies. I’m a firm believer in health at ANY and EVERY size and I would never want someone feeling bad about themselves or their baby bodies—like I tend to do when I go through my Instagram newsfeed. Thank goodness we can all unfollow every now and then! Am I happy with my post-baby body? Eh, depends on the day. Does my wine intake at night inhibit me from reaching 6-pack abs? Of course! But hey, I have my priorities and 6-pack abs are NOT on the agenda right now. Surviving two non-napping toddlers is!

Don't let a slow bike ride fool you, these two are fast, and make me feel like I'm running a 100 yard dash multiple times a day!

But really, I’m writing this post to share a little bit about what’s brought me some sanity when it comes to losing the baby weight. You betcha a little wine has helped. But so has exercise. Not exercising to get to a certain number on the scale, but exercising because it helps me mentally handle the toddler tantrums and baby needs. It helps me feel like I still have one little piece of my day that’s just for ME. Well, that and the wine. And just like I hope you’d turn to me for nutrition advice when it comes to raising a healthy family, I turned to a professional to help me reach my oh-so-modest fitness goals. Goals meaning fitting in time-effective workouts 3-4 times a week, using light weights, and mixing in plenty of booty-boosting sets. I can’t help it, I’m addicted to squats!

This guy keeps me motivated too! Especially since he supplies a lot of the wine ;)

That’s where Kelli, founder and CEO of Kelli’s Lean Body Coaching [KLBC] came to my aide. I started working with Kelli last year [pre-Lily] and attended a few of her group classes + some 1:1 training sessions. Once I became pregnant with Lily, I took a little fitness hiatus, but have started working with Kelli again FROM HOME! Yep, she has awesome remote workouts that I can do in my basement, bathroom, garage, you name it. Pretty much any place where I can hide from the kids to get my workout in….

Because I’m such a fan of Kelli and her booty-boosting workouts, she so kindly shared a pre/postnatal friendly workout to share with all of you. Click here to download your copy. I’ve also asked her to share a little bit about her business: KLBC offers group classes, 1:1/ duo training (Birmingham, MI and Kalamazoo, MI) and remote programs! KLBC trainers are certified Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialists and can help any Lean Body Baby Mama feel her best throughout her pregnancy and get her body back post babe! KLBC trainers are all about helping women find their “happy body” from the inside, out! It’s time to look and FEEL your best– join the Lean Body family today! Email [email protected] (Birmingham) or [email protected] (Kalamazoo) for more details!

If you want another taste of Kelli’s workouts, be sure to check out her YouTube channel and Instagram pages. Sometimes when the boys are busy playing trains I pull up on of her circuit workouts and 10 minutes later I’m refreshed and feeling the burn!

Kelli's YouTube Channel has a TON of circuit workouts that I like to do when the kids are napping!

Oddly enough, I’m writing this post with a certain little baby girl looking right at me. You know what I want Lily to know about Mom’s weight? NOTHING! Maybe someday I’ll share my history with body image struggles. But for now, I want her to see a happy, healthy Mom that she can model after. And hopefully someday we can be active and exercise together. Oh and share that glass of wine… about 21 years from now!

What Mom, no wine?! That's ok. For now I'll just enjoy the extra snuggles!
