Baby Update [7 Months]

May 1, 2014 By Katie

Wake up, wake up, wake up, it’s the 1st of da month!

Can you name that tune?! I’m sure Bone Thugs N’ Harmony would love that I called one of their rap songs a tune…

I’m 7 months old?! Say waaaaaht?!?!

Anyhow, it’s the first of the month! That means Mr. Joey is another month old, and Mom is another month behind on THE baby book- but I think a blog post is a nice compromise (at least that’s what I tell myself).

Here’s the latest and greatest for month #7:

Movement: Joey raises his tushy in the air like he wants to crawl, but moans and groans in frustration that he’s not doing just that. He then rolls over quickly and has a look of “what the heck just happened?!” Instead of crawling, Joey has learned to scoot on his back. He scoots backwards on the floor all around the house!! We call it “The Inch Worm.” It could be his signature dance move at his senior prom. I honestly think our son is going to scoot instead of crawl, then walk. My Mom reassured me she never met an 18-year old that didn’t walk. Reassuring, right?!

Hey! Tell my Mom to chill out! I may not be crawling, but I have two bottom teeth! That’s a milestone…

Foodie Baby: Joey LOVES food. He gets that from his Daddy! Some of his favorite foods include pumpkin, pears, apples, avocado, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, peas, and bananas! Soon we are going to try egg yolk, along with more fruits, veggies, and meat. I’ll also try working in some spices with the puree mixtures I make for him. Cinnamon + oatmeal + banana? Yes please! I wish I made myself a breakfast like that.

More, more, more!! This is Joey after devouring some blueberries…

Sleep: Sleep?! What’s that? I’m knocking on wood as I’m typing this… Joey has been sleeping really well as of late. He’ll go down for bed between 7-8:00pm, and wake up between 5-6:00am for a bottle. He will either go back down until 7-7:30am or stay up and play. He takes two naps every day, between 9-10:00am for 1.5 hours and between 1-2:00pm for 1.5-2 hours. Phew!! If only my nap schedule was the same…

Personality: Joey is our smiley boy. He seriously smiles 24/7. He responds when we talk to him (babbling of course). Conversing with him has become very entertaining for all of us, especially since he’s become  much more expressive and interactive. He’s also very cautious and curious when he notices something or someone new. Overall, he’s a joy- a cuddly, lovable baby boy.

My first Easter! Dad helped me find an Easter egg and introduced me to the Easter Bunny. He’s not as cool as Santa…

Mommy Meltdown: I don’t know what’s come over me this month. Every night when Joey falls asleep, I tell Ted, “I’m going to get Joey and bring him into our bed.” And Ted has the same response every night. “You know if you do that he’s going to wake up and then not go back to bed.” Well, I gave in last night. I went in, picked Joey up and let him lay/sleep on me for 30 minutes. I started to get really warm (we were both in fleece PJ’s), and then I saw Joey opening and closing his eyes. When I saw a little smirk forming at the corner of his mouth I raced him back to his crib. It was a close one, that’s for sure! Baby Fix- 1. Waking Up Joey- 0.

Joey + Mom at music class! Notice we are without instruments. Joey liked to listen vs. participate.

Funny how I want the week to fly by to get to the weekend, but I do not want my baby to grow another month old. I’m guessing it will be like this for the rest of his life!
