Skip the chocolate and pick some fun non-candy Easter basket gift ideas for the kids this Easter— the best being books, and other kid favorites such as bubbles, crayons, and stickers!
I’m all for treats and sweets during the holidays. But my biggest issue with candy at Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc. is that most Easter baskets or gifts involving sweet treats go well beyond a reasonable serving. And I don’t know about you, but if I have a hard time with portion control then I know my boys do too! So when faced with Reese’s Easter Eggs or marshmallow Peeps, I opt for this non-candy Easter basket gift idea: BOOKS! And a few more… read on!
Skip the chocolate and pick some fun non-candy Easter basket gift ideas for the kids this #Easter! Share on XNovel idea, am I right?! Sorry, that was a bad joke… but seriously, I love getting the boys books that relate to the holiday we are celebrating. Beyond books, we have a few other non-candy Easter basket gift ideas that always go over well: Bubbles, crayons, playdough, sidewalk chalk, and stickers. Books are by far my favorite because they keep my house clean and can be reused year after year. In fact, we have a bin in our basement storage that holds all of our holiday-themed children’s books. And rotate them depending on what time of year it is!
So instead of tempting yourself and your kids with extra sugar and sweets they’ll most likely be getting from Grandma and Grandpa, consider purchasing two or three books as their Easter basket gift— and if you are feeling really generous, opt for one of my other 5 favorites too! And if you’re into deals like me, wait until a few days before Easter to visit your local bookstore. They’ll likely have a section of holiday books on sale!
This book giving gift idea goes for other major holidays too. Oh and I guess I should mention that there are plenty of other benefits beyond the sugar-factor when it comes to reading with your kids vs. giving them treats. But chances are if you are buying a gift for your little one, you already know! Don’t we all live in a library of books?!
