As soon as Joey was born, his nutrition was the FIRST thing I thought about (right after giving him lots of hugs and kisses). He showed his “foodie” spirit as soon as he saw his Momma, and luckily enough he was ready and able to nurse from the get-go. Baby boy is eating plenty of solids and formula (he’s 8.5 months old), but hey, the first few months are definitely worth reminiscing about, especially when it comes to food!
Note: This isn’t meant to be a guideline for YOU and YOUR sweet baby- instead, feel free to compare Joey’s foodie experience with recommendations from your doctor and baby feeding resources such as those found on Baby Center.

* When my breastmilk supply changed (around 3.5 months), I started supplementing with formula. I found that I only had to supplement during my daytime feedings and right before bed. That averaged to be about 4 bottles per day. I would nurse, and then give Joey 2-3 ounces of formula. Why did I supplement with formula? Stay tuned- coming next week! This is worth its own post.
Joey is now 8.5 months old and some days he’ll drink a bottle every 3 hours, other days every 4 or 5 hours. Again, I try to follow HIS lead. And I know whoever is watching him does the same. I’m all about schedules, but when it comes to baby life to try to stick with a routine vs. pressuring the family with a dreaded set schedule.
