Slow Cooker Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

Serves: 4 servings
- For the meatballs [makes 12 meatballs]:
- 1 pound lean Ground Beef [93% lean or leaner]
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons of water
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- For the sauce [makes 3 cups of sauce]:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 [28-ounce] can crushed tomatoes
- 1 [15-ounce] can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Fresh basil and grated Parmesan for serving.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the meatball ingredients. Shape into twelve 2-inch meatballs. Set aside.
- In the slow cooker, mix the tomato sauce ingredients. Place the meatballs into the sauce mixture. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
