Slow Cooker Meatballs and Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  • For the meatballs [makes 12 meatballs]:
  • 1 pound lean Ground Beef [93% lean or leaner]
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • For the sauce [makes 3 cups of sauce]:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 [28-ounce] can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 [15-ounce] can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Fresh basil and grated Parmesan for serving.
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the meatball ingredients. Shape into twelve 2-inch meatballs. Set aside.
  2. In the slow cooker, mix the tomato sauce ingredients. Place the meatballs into the sauce mixture. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
